Today is my birthday. Other than having enough time-off-in-lieu to be able to take the day off and head to Therme, it’s not really a special day. It’s not really a special age. But a new year, whether calendar or birth, brings new hope. The last couple of years have been hard. I’m incredibly unsettled. But new hope, new opportunities, a chance to leave the past behind and explore new horizons…

So what’s coming up? Plenty of work, hopefully settling into one of the two other churches here (see earlier posts as to why I left my old one), a short trip to Finland in February and then a slightly longer one returning to Hong Kong in late March / early April.

Other than that? Who knows. I’d like to get some music out, both my acoustic album recorded last summer and some more developed compositions. I’d like to get some more writing out, both my Viking story and the extension of the A Spring Awakening piece I wrote for the Naturist Fiction Collaborative. And I’d really like to be able to report that we’re moving somewhere that my soul can find rest. But that’s very much not in my hands just now.

So yeah, a birthday, a chance to reflect and to dream. Or just another day. You decide!
