Having left Instagram and Facebook at the end of 2025 (in protest at the unjustified account deletions and the increasing shift to the right and extremist conservative policies), and having an enforced 9-10 days away from social media due to an exceptionally busy week at work (show week is, as any theatre technician will tell you, 24-7 chaos!), I’ve recently come to realise something…
I just don’t care!
Not that I don’t care about people. Far from it. I truly value one-on-one interaction, whether in person or online. But broadcasting to the world? It’s gotten tiresome. I’ve not published a YouTube video since January. I’ve not made a BlueSky post or posted to Pixelfed since February. Ironically, I’ll post to share this article, but that’s about it.
I’ve been on social media for 20 years. Internet communities in general for nearly 30. And I’m tired. Tired of all the fake people, tired of the excessive sexualisation, the gratuitous violence, the evil conservative evangelical agenda insistent on corrupting Christianity, the horrifying rise of right-wing politics and misogyny, porno-prudish attitudes that destroy the true meaning of being human, the over-commercialisation of everything today…
So, I don’t know when I’ll post next. On any platform. But for now, I’m taking a break. Those who know me, know how to reach me.
