Inspired by the film inspired by the play, these are certainly not all about one person, are not all about one specific person or even group, are hopefully vague enough not to be too recognisable or uncomfortable, and some may even be a little tongue-in-cheek. You be the judge…
About the title? “Yous” is slang in northern England and a few other parts of the world for indeterminate plural people in second person. And because I couldn’t just call it 10 Things I Hate About You, even though it’s a truly great film! And the image is from Deep Hayes Country Park, near where we used to live in Staffordshire. Chosen only because it was kinda reflective.
In no particular order:

- I hate that you never visit, and I put so much more energy into us than you do
- I hate that you passed on and left me alone
- I hate that you hold outdated values that make me uncomfortable, but I don’t feel I can address them after so long
- I hate that you reject things I want for you that are for your own health benefit
- I hate that we lost touch, when I thought we had something powerful
- I hate that you taught me things that negatively impacted my life experience for years
- I hate that you refuse to accept the simple truths that could impact your eternity
- I hate that in finding your happiness, you indirectly prevented me from finding mine
- I hate that you carry burdens you don’t need to, and I can’t take them from you, only give advice on how to lay them down
- I hate that whatever happened between us, I can’t hate you, not even a little bit, even if we never speak again
Definitely some retrospection here. I wrote this in a spa in Finland, but wanted to wait a couple of days before typing it up and posting it. Finland was beautiful, even in winter, but Finns are not my people. I think I could find peace there though.
